ADVANTAGE

  • Pain free hair removal
  • Highly effective
  • Safer in all skin types
1.What is the treatment regimen? / How many treatments are generally required? How far apart?

The number of session is decided by the area to be treated and hair cycle length in that area. Usually 8 to 12 sessions are needed at an interval of 1 month for first 4 session and next 4 sessions are done according to the hair growth (usually at an interval of 2 to 3 months). Maintenance once in a year can be done to sustain the result.

Depending on the diagnosis, investigations may or may not be required. In case of hirsutism (women growing male patterned hair) investigations are needed because most of the cases of hirsutism are associated with polycystic ovarian disease. Regrowth can occur if additional hormonal therapy is not given with the laser treatment.

No specific risks are noted with laser hair removal.

There will be permanent reduction in thickness and density of hair. But not permanent removal of hair.

There is no downtime. It is an office procedure.

Hair reduction will be noted only on the site treated. Other areas are not affected with this procedure.

All areas can be treated safely except eyebrows and eyelashes.

Generally it does not hurt. But it also depends on patient’s tolerance to pain. In those patients topical anesthetic creams are used to reduce the discomfort.

Results like considerable amount of thinning and delay in hair growth are seen usually from 2 and 3 sessions.

Excessive sun exposure, waxing of hair in the treated area and plucking of hairs should be avoided.

In lactating mothers it can be done safely. During pregnancy we at skintrust hospital try to defer the procedure. But opinion varies for each physician.

Paradoxical hair growth (hair growth in nearby areas) can occur due to technology like IPL lasers, in patients with darker skin type and also depend on the proper setting done by trained expertise.
