Surgical CO2

CO2 lasers are widely used in dermatology field. It has a wavelength in the mid infrared at 10,600 nm. It is well absorbed in water hence it is ideal for safe ablation with good hemostasis, as skin contains very high percentage of water. It is also effective in skin rejuvenation and for revision of acne scar.

It depends on the condition to be treated. Usually single session is enough for most of the indications, but few lesions may need more than 1 session.
No permanent side effects are noted. Redness, mild pain, scabbing and pigmentation are noted.
Topical anesthetic creams are applied before the procedure to make the patient tolerable for the treatment.
