Hair Transplantation
Follicular unit extraction is done in our clinic. When the medical management has failed and the AGA patient’s grade is more than 5 then hair transplantation is done. In follicular unit extraction individual follicular units containing 1 to 4 hairs are taken from the donor area (occiput) with extractor and then the hair is implanted in the recipient site. The majority of transplanted hair will fall off in 2 to 4 weeks due to telogen effluvium. Hair growth begins from fourth month and optimum results are seen after 9 months to 1 year.

There are no major side effects. Minimal discomfort can be felt.
It usually depends on the transplanted area, usually within 3 to 4 days one can go back to work.
Transplanted hairs are usually permanent. Very rarely due to infections in the scalp, allergic reaction or mechanical injury can lead to hair loss.
Basic investigations are done like any other surgery. No special investigations needed.
